Area of a circular pizza = 1/2 * pi * r^2 = 1/4 * pi * d^2

Where diameter is d, and radius is r.

We have:

1/4 * pi * d^2 = 1.1 * 1/4 * pi * (8^2)

Solve for d, and get

d = 8(\sqrt{1.1}) = 8.3

The new diameter is 8.3 inches.
